Tendonitis Rescue
What is tendonitis?

Tendonitis (also known as tendinitis) is an inflammation or  irritation  of the tendon which can be very painful. Your tendons are the strong, smooth fibrous tissue that join the muscles to the bones. The tendon is the area affected and "itis" reflects the fact that there is inflammation present.  You can get tendonitis in different areas of your body and is quite common among athletes or anyone who uses a repetitive pattern for a task.  You can have tendonitis in different areas at the some time creating a difficult and painful situation that requires a committed treatment plan to heal.

What causes tendonitis?

When we "overuse" or injure the tendon the fibrous tissue is no longer smooth and the muscles can become overtired and weak.   If we continue to use the affected area then more damage can occur to surrounding tissues and micro trauma can develop in the area causing further harm.

Activities such as tennis, caring for a baby or toddler, typing, golfing, running or a repetitive pattern use can create tendonitis. As we age our tendons can lose elasticity and not be able to function as smoothly as they did before. Tendonitis can also be seen in systemic diseases such as diabetes or rheumatoid arthritis.

Symptoms of tendonitis

You or your Doctor may notice pain, tenderness, swelling, weakness or heat in the affected tendon and muscle area.  The pain will be worse with movement and can ache while resting and at night. Below are some of the  commonly used names for tendonitis which reflect location or type of use that caused the injury.

tennis elbow                        patellar tendonitis                               tendosynovitis
golfers  elbow                      RSI (repetitive strain injury)                carpel tunnel
epicondylitis                        shoulder tendonitis                             achilles tendonitis
elbow tendonitis                  plantar faciitis                                      wrist tendonitis
knee tendonitis                    thumb tendonitis                                  De Quervain's synddrome

Why is tendonitis so difficult to heal?

Tendonitis can be long and slow to heal because there is a very poor blood supply in the tendons compared to the rest of the body area such as muscles and skin.  These areas are rich in blood and qi and can heal fairly quickly.  Without this rich supply of blood and qi tendons take longer and are more difficult to heal.  Tendonitis Rescue is so helpful because it may increase circulation, reduce inflammation and support the body to heal itself using natural essential oils that the body  responds to.  Our customers have reported incredible healing stories using Tendonitis Rescue on the affected area.

Tendonitis can also be very diffiult to heal until you are able to discontinue or modify the use pattern that caused the injury to start with.  Identifying the activity or cause is the first step and then taking quick action to start the healing process.  Preventing a recurrence or occurance in the first place is much easier than trying to treat.

Tendonitis treatment may include

1. Take action to eliminate or modify the cause of the tendonitis

2.  Rest the affected area

3.  Use ice to reduce swelling in the area and /or apply heat to promote relaxation and circulation

4.  Your Dr. may suggest anti-inflammatory medication

5.  Ultrasound to reduce pain and swelling or tens therapy

6.  Massage  or physical therapy to stretch and strenghten the tendon

7.  Tendonitis Rescue to quickly bring relief and support the body in the healing process

8.  Extreme cases may require surgery or steroid injections

9.  Wearing splints, braces or supports on the affected area

Prognosis

Very good with rest and treatment.  Care must be taken to not  reinjure the affected area.  Stretching and warming up  before  an activity along with  proper care after will keep the tendon healthy.
